Systems Engineer (Full Remote)

Stack

Responsibilities

• ▹Install, support and maintain server hardware and software infrastructure
• ▹Manage database systems (MariaDB & ClickHouse) and web servers (Nginx)
• ▹Monitor server and network usage, ensuring cost-effective and efficient resource use
• ▹Plan and implement future deployments
• ▹Provide some 24/7 availability for critical infrastructure situations
• ▹Contribute to team process improvement and knowledge sharing

Requirements

• ▹Extensive Linux experience (preferably RedHat) with appreciation for OSS
• ▹Advanced knowledge of web servers with PHP
• ▹Experience with MariaDB administration
• ▹Configuration management knowledge (e.g. Puppet)
• ▹Experience with caching (Redis, Memcached, CouchBase)
• ▹Exposure to Agile/SCRUM and related tools (JIRA, Confluence)
• ▹Excellent written, spoken and interpersonal communication skills
• ▹BS/MS in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience

• ▹Cloud platforms (Google Cloud & AWS)
• ▹Scripting with Bash, Python, Ruby, Perl
• ▹Git/GitHub
• ▹Networking (DNS configuration, VRRP, PXE/Kickstart remote installation)
• ▹Exposure to PHP, Python & Go
• ▹Big Data exposure (Hadoop, Impala)
• ▹ELK stack (Elasticsearch and friends)
• ▹Security (SELinux, IPTables) & advanced networking
• ▹Monitoring tools (Nagios)
