Senior Software Engineer role on Sentry's JavaScript SDK team, focused on server-side and edge runtimes. Sentry is an application monitoring company trusted by 200,000+ organizations. You work across Sentry's extensive suite of JavaScript SDKs for Node.js, Bun, Deno, Cloudflare Workers, and other modern server runtimes, pushing the boundaries of developer tooling and empowering millions of developers to build more reliable software. The role contributes full-time to a major open-source project. Based in or willing to relocate to the Toronto, Canada area.

Responsibilities

  • ▹Work across Sentry's extensive suite of JavaScript SDKs, focusing on server-side and edge runtimes from Node.js to Bun, Deno, and Cloudflare Workers
  • ▹Take end-to-end ownership: plan, implement, and ship code, including writing robust unit and integration tests and crafting clear documentation
  • ▹Use AI tools to enhance productivity and focus on solving complex problems and delivering value
  • ▹Collaborate with influential open-source organizations and committees such as TC39, the Node.js core team, and the OpenTelemetry SIG, representing Sentry and helping steer JavaScript standards and runtime interoperability
  • ▹Assist the Customer Operations team in squashing critical bugs and interact directly with the user base on GitHub and at industry conferences

Requirements

  • ▹At least 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer, web developer, or similar role
  • ▹Deep expertise developing web applications, libraries, or SDKs using TypeScript/JavaScript
  • ▹Hands-on experience with Node.js and meaningful exposure to one or more modern server runtimes such as Bun, Deno, or Cloudflare Workers, with solid understanding of how they differ in module systems, APIs, performance characteristics, and deployment models
  • ▹Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English
  • ▹Based in the Toronto, Canada area or excited about relocating there

Nice to have

  • ▹Experience working with WinterCG, the Web-interoperable Runtimes Community Group, or other runtime interoperability initiatives
  • ▹Familiarity with OpenTelemetry instrumentation in server-side or edge environments
  • ▹A history of contributing to or maintaining open-source libraries
  • ▹Experience engaging with open-source committees or working groups

What we offer
