Student Assistant – IT Forensics and AI Security Training Courses

Fraunhofer SIT's "IT Forensics" competence field researches and develops methods for digital forensic investigation and runs related training courses at the Fraunhofer Lernlabor Cybersicherheit. The student assistant helps develop course materials further and supports the accompanying research.

Responsibilities

  • Updating course material by topic or creating new material: presentation slides, screencast videos, web-based trainings (WBTs)
  • Researching technical developments and research findings
  • Developing hands-on PC exercises: designing concepts, assembling tools, exercise data and scripts (e.g. Bash, Python), writing task sheets and sample solutions, conducting user tests
  • Compiling new forensic data sets: researching or generating images, videos and text corpora
  • Optimizing existing course material: clarity, corporate design, readability
  • Testing in-house and external forensic tools
  • Optionally: implementing compact GUIs for CLI tools, administering VMs and GPU servers for the exercises

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a STEM degree program
  • Good knowledge in at least one of the relevant subject areas (digital forensics, deepfake detection, OSINT, machine learning, AI security)
  • Strong interest in communicating expertise in a structured, understandable way
  • Graphic design skill for slides and training videos
  • Independent work, meeting deadlines
  • Good German (at least B2 level, since the course program is delivered in German)

Nice to have

  • Teaching experience (e.g. teacher-training program, tutoring)
