Senior Staff System Performance Engineer role on Qualcomm's System Performance team, responsible for optimizing and validating performance of Snapdragon chipsets across Mobile, Compute, Automotive, IoT, Server and Data Center AI business units. The role collaborates with software, hardware and architecture teams to optimize power, performance and thermal behavior, acting as technical lead to junior engineers across multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Enable, profile and analyze complex concurrent system use cases in both emulation and software environments (Android/Linux/Windows)
  • Define and document performance and power analysis plans across multiple workloads (CPU, GPU, AI/ML) and concurrent scenarios
  • Identify areas of performance optimization in the SoC across software and hardware architectures
  • Direct triage of complex performance issues to determine root cause and present results to internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product management, hardware and software engineering) to implement optimal power, performance and thermal solutions
  • Provide technical leadership, mentor and guide engineers across multiple programs
  • Define and develop automation for the team to operate more efficiently

Requirements

  • Strong programming and scripting skills (Python, C/C++)
  • Understanding of ARM SoC concepts and architecture specifications (SMMU, GIC, Coresight-PMU, bus interface protocols)
  • Knowledge and experience with ARM v8 and v9 specifications
  • Familiarity with system power/performance analysis tools and techniques
  • Computer hardware and architecture understanding

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in Computer Engineering
  • 10+ years of practical post-silicon power and performance analysis experience on complex SoCs
  • 3+ years of experience interacting with senior leadership (Sr. Director, VP level and above)
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art workloads including AI and LLM
  • Understanding of memory hierarchy and system interconnects
  • Experience with Vulkan, OpenGL, DX12 or CUDA
  • Knowledge of software power management stacks and scheduler behavior

What we offer

  • Pay range: $179,000–$268,400 per year (broad, location-based scale)
