Datacenter AI Systems and Solutions Engineer, Sr Staff

Responsibilities

• ▹Lead the development of end-to-end AI/ML solutions integrating Qualcomm AI hardware, system software, and ecosystem components
• ▹Drive the design, development, and optimization of Generative AI and LLM-based applications, focused on production readiness and inference efficiency
• ▹Contribute to model fine-tuning, distillation, and optimization strategies tailored for target hardware
• ▹Perform AI model benchmarking, workload characterization, and performance analysis to influence system requirements
• ▹Serve as a technical lead for customer engagements around AI model onboarding, inference optimization, and performance tuning
• ▹Own system-level architecture and design, including requirements definition and interface specifications
• ▹Collaborate across cross-functional teams (hardware, software, tools, frameworks, product) to deliver features
• ▹Lead system-level debugging and triage, identifying root causes across the stack

Requirements

• ▹Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Physics and 6+ years of Systems Engineering experience (or Master's + 5 years, or PhD + 4 years)

Nice to have

• ▹Master's or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Physics
• ▹Strong Python proficiency and experience with ML frameworks, APIs, REST services, microservice architecture
• ▹Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating AI/ML systems in production
• ▹Understanding of Generative AI architectures (transformers, diffusion models, LLMs, LVMs, embeddings)
• ▹Experience with large-scale AI systems architecture (microservices, distributed systems, event-driven design, fault-tolerant architectures)
• ▹Practical experience with AI inference serving, performance optimization, and scalability
• ▹Familiarity with MLOps practices for development, deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management
• ▹Familiarity with automation and DevOps tooling (GitOps, Docker containerization, Kubernetes orchestration)
• ▹Experience with cluster schedulers and resource managers (Slurm, PBS) and workload orchestration
• ▹Experience with observability, monitoring, and debugging tools for ML pipelines
• ▹Experience fine-tuning and optimizing GenAI models, including reinforcement learning
• ▹Familiarity with open-source development practices
