Senior Software Engineer - CI for Performance Tools
Arm is looking for an outstanding software engineer with strong CI and automation expertise to build the validation infrastructure behind Arm's performance methodologies and telemetry tools. The goal is to make performance evaluation on Arm platforms repeatable, scalable and trustworthy on current and next-generation Arm systems.
Responsibilities
- ▹Build and evolve CI infrastructure that validates performance methodologies across cloud, on-prem and hardware targets
- ▹Design controlled, reproducible test environments that help distinguish real regressions from environmental noise when running and profiling targeted workloads
- ▹Help build synthetic workloads and targeted microbenchmarks, occasionally in Arm assembly, to support validation efforts
- ▹Work with architects and analysis teams to understand performance methodologies and embed this knowledge into validation strategies
- ▹Partner with IP and silicon teams to ensure tools and methodologies work well on the next generation of Arm products
- ▹Ensure testing scales with the ever growing demand for new methodologies, tools, IP and physical designs
Requirements
- ▹Experience building reliable automated test systems where reproducibility matters
- ▹Understanding of performance measurement in CI environments, including the challenges of noise and regression detection
- ▹Proactive and relentless about improving CI reliability, validation coverage and developer feedback loops
- ▹Strong Python for workflow automation, tooling and data processing
- ▹Proficient in debugging and great at problem solving
Nice to have
- ▹Knowledgeable in C/C++/AArch64 assembly
- ▹Some understanding of hardware system architecture (pipelines, caches, MMUs, interconnects, timers, multithreading)
- ▹Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing, benchmark automation or performance dashboards
- ▹Familiarity with Linux performance tooling (perf, ftrace) or telemetry systems
Soft skills
What we offer
- ▹Engineers typically own larger features end-to-end, giving space to build deep expertise in the domain
- ▹The team gives engineers time to build the Arm-specific hardware and performance-analysis context needed for the role
- ▹Collaborative culture with incremental code design and review as a team
- ▹Hybrid working with teams determining their own hybrid working patterns depending on the work and team needs
- ▹If visa sponsorship is required, Arm meets all costs associated with sponsorship for the employee (spouse/dependant fees are the candidate's responsibility)
- ▹Adjustments and accommodations available during the recruitment process
About the company
The team builds Arm's Telemetry solution, a set of open-source reference tools that demonstrate Arm's performance methodologies across compute subsystems (CPU, interconnects, memory systems and more). They collaborate with architects across Arm IP groups to turn methodologies into practical tooling, enabling Arm's internal performance teams, partners and the wider open-source community. Arm is an equal opportunity employer. No relocation package is available for this role.
