Responsibilities

• ▹Set the technical vision and strategy for a rapidly evolving product area, making high-judgment architecture and technology decisions
• ▹Drive adoption of AI and machine learning solutions to optimize customer support workflows
• ▹Lead a team of engineers shipping code and tackling hard engineering problems, maintaining a high technical bar
• ▹Translate high-level business goals into actionable engineering projects, owning the technical roadmap from conception to delivery
• ▹Drive responsible adoption of AI development tools across engineering teams, modeling effective use and mentoring engineers
• ▹Champion improvements in system, observability, performance, and tech debt reduction beyond the immediate team
• ▹Establish best practices for deployment, alerting, and on-call health
• ▹Take holistic ownership of platform stability, tracking root causes and building preventive safeguards
• ▹Drive alignment across product, design, and operations, resolving bottlenecks proactively
• ▹Mentor and level up engineers, delegate stretch opportunities, lead cross-team reviews

Requirements

• ▹8+ years of software engineering industry experience architecting and delivering large-scale backend systems in production
• ▹Demonstrated experience setting technical direction for a product or platform area, including architecture docs and senior stakeholder alignment
• ▹Deep expertise in designing and operating distributed systems — microservices, event-driven architectures, high-throughput APIs at scale
• ▹Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages (Python, Go, Java, C#, or similar) with performance, concurrency, and reliability tradeoff understanding
• ▹Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker, cri-o)
• ▹Proven ability to lead and influence a team of engineers, setting technical standards and running design reviews
• ▹Excellent written and verbal communication, able to represent technical strategy to leadership

Nice to have

• ▹Full-stack versatility: while server-focused, ability to own frontend development and deliver features end-to-end is a strong plus
