Lead Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• ▹Lead and mentor a dedicated squad of engineers to ensure delivery of high-quality, scalable software
• ▹Design and build complex components of client deliverables across backend and edge/IoT domains
• ▹Implement robust CI/CD processes and containerisation strategies using Docker and Kubernetes
• ▹Ship production-ready code in Python and compiled languages such as Rust, C++, or Go
• ▹Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate advanced AI and Machine Learning capabilities into software architectures
• ▹Distill complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

• ▹Extensive experience in application development and deep understanding of modern system architecture and design patterns
• ▹Proficiency in Python and at least one compiled language, with a proven track record shipping code to paying customers
• ▹Strong hands-on experience with DevOps tools, including GitLab CI/CD, Docker, and deployment on bare metal or Kubernetes
• ▹Eligibility for UK Security Clearance (SC), willingness to work 2-4 days per week on-site with defence customers

This role sits within the Defence team, which builds AI solutions for the defence sector; it requires eligibility for UK Security Clearance (SC) and 2-4 days per week on-site with defence clients, with the flexibility to work from Faculty's London office or remotely elsewhere in the UK the rest of the time.
