Autonomy Software Engineer

As an Autonomy Engineer you'll own the end-to-end development and deployment of new autonomous capabilities used in real customer scenarios such as inspection, mapping, drone-as-first-responder, and security patrols.

Responsibilities

  • Build cutting-edge autonomous capabilities through cross-functional collaboration with vision, planning & controls, deep learning, infrastructure, embedded, cloud, mobile, and product teams
  • Develop core robotics algorithms to expand the autonomous operational envelope in challenging conditions (night, urban canyons, GNSS interference, at sea, precipitation)
  • Triage customer issues, recognize trends, and make the system more resilient to field failures
  • Research investments in simulated and real-life test infrastructure
  • Develop a deep understanding of core robotics principles and how the full system works
  • Help out across the full software stack, maintaining code quality and addressing tech debt
  • Conceive, design, implement, simulate, evaluate, and flight-test new motion planning strategies

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience writing production-level code for autonomous robots (preferably flying robots), high proficiency in C++ and Python
  • Practical experience implementing state-of-the-art algorithms in a robotics-adjacent area: computer vision, state estimation, motion planning, controls, sensor integration, UAS software/hardware
  • Highly curious, creative, and able to communicate concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and commitment to clean, maintainable, readable code
  • Excited to use robotics to make the world safer, more productive, and more creative
