Support Engineer (EU/Germany remote, m/f/d)

As a Support Engineer at Pliant, you'll own the technical investigation and resolution of complex customer issues, acting as the escalation point from 1st-Level Support across the web apps and API (SaaS) offering; this role is remote, based in Germany or elsewhere in the EU.

Responsibilities

  • Own complex technical cases end-to-end: investigate, resolve, propose a workaround, or escalate to Engineering or Product
  • Ensure clear communication and SLA adherence throughout the ticket lifecycle
  • Escalate effectively to Engineering: complete reproduction steps, impact assessment, logs/queries/screenshots, and a hypothesis
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Product and Engineering on prioritization
  • Debug product and integration issues end-to-end: analyze reports, reproduce behavior, isolate root causes
  • Diagnose technical problems using logs, system tools and troubleshooting frameworks
  • Triage and classify issues: distinguish configuration/integration errors, data issues, product limitations and genuine bugs

Requirements

  • 3+ years in a role involving deep technical troubleshooting (e.g. Technical Support Engineer, QA Engineer with strong debugging)
  • Strong debugging and analytical skills, forming hypotheses and converging quickly on root cause
  • REST APIs and web fundamentals: HTTP, webhooks, auth (OAuth/JWT), idempotency
  • Experience testing REST APIs with tools such as Postman and/or cURL
  • Excellent communication skills bridging technical and non-technical audiences
  • Comfortable writing SQL (PostgreSQL) queries (joins, aggregations) to validate system state
  • Ability to read code to assist with debugging
  • Hands-on experience with logs and observability tooling (Datadog, Grafana, Splunk)
  • High ownership and autonomy
  • Experience with AI engineering tools (Claude, Codex) and understanding of the ecosystem
  • Fluent English

Nice to have

  • Previous experience supporting fintech web apps or ERP integrations (accounting, invoicing, payment systems)
  • Basic scripting/automation (Python/JS) to speed up investigations
  • Experience writing or maintaining technical documentation
