We conduct research on future communication systems, including sensor, mobile, vehicular, opportunistic networks, and Internet architectures. The institute has expertise in network modeling, protocol design, performance optimization, simulation, and experimental testbeds. We are looking for a motivated Lab Engineer with hands-on experience in networking, simulation, and modeling to support our work within the UNU Hub networks. YOUR TASKS - Build and evaluate analytical and simulation models for communication networks with focus on IoT-oriented future internet protocol extensions - Develop deployable implementations of future internet protocols for agricultural research - Share reproducible models and results to support open research - Involve in teaching with hands on lab work related to communication networks - Support of bachelor's and master's students supervision on network modeling and experiments YOUR PROFILE Requirements - University degree (Bachelor or equivalent) in the field of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Communication Networks or a related field Desirable knowledge and personal skills - Proven expertise in applying future internet architectures to the Internet of Things such as information-centric networking - Experience with open-source or reproducible simulation frameworks such as OMNeT++ - Ability to build simulation models using tools such as OMNeT++ and build real-world implementations of future internet protocols for the IoT - Ability to guide students through project and thesis work OUR OFFER - A job in an interesting, friendly and appreciative working environment - 30 day vacation per year - Good public transport connections - Company pension scheme, capital-forming benefits At the heart of TU Hamburg’s research, teaching and transfer of technology is the guiding principle of developing technology for people.
