Senior IT System Engineer (60% Remote) – Frankfurt am Main

Responsibilities

• ▹Analyze and assess incoming firewall access requests (e.g. from ticketing systems)
• ▹Review functional and technical requirements such as source and target systems, ports, protocols, and communication direction
• ▹Coordinate with requesters, application owners, and network teams on unclear or incomplete requirements
• ▹Assess requirements from a security perspective in line with IT security policies
• ▹Configure and implement firewall rules on central and decentralized firewalls
• ▹Modify existing rule sets based on the least-privilege principle
• ▹Carry out changes in accordance with change management processes
• ▹Verify implemented firewall access rules through functional tests
• ▹Analyze network traffic and logs for troubleshooting
• ▹Fully document implemented firewall rules in the ticketing system or configuration documentation
• ▹Regularly review existing firewall rules and identify and remove outdated or redundant ones

Requirements

• ▹Degree in an IT field or recognized IT vocational training, alternatively at least 5 years of professional experience in IT
• ▹Cisco CCNP (Network Professional – Routing/Switching) certification or a comparable security certification
• ▹At least 5 years of professional experience in networking (e.g. as a network administrator)
• ▹Very good German (at least C1) and good English (at least B1)
