Solution Architect – Legacy Transformation Focus

The IT organisation of the Bundesnotarkammer (German Federal Chamber of Notaries) is looking for a Solution Architect to take technical responsibility for modernising the Central Testament Register (ZTR). This is a permanent position in Berlin-Mitte, working with external software development providers.

Responsibilities

  • ▹Take technical responsibility for modernising the Central Testament Register (ZTR) and consistently implement the defined modernisation strategy
  • ▹Work with external software development providers to define and implement technical strategies, ensuring alignment with architecture and quality standards, technical requirements and guidelines
  • ▹Translate business requirements into binding technical concepts
  • ▹Review technical concepts and solution architectures, demand and monitor arc42 documentation and automated test concepts, and ensure their implementation
  • ▹Work closely with product managers, delivery managers and subject-matter experts to identify and prioritise requirements
  • ▹Integrate solutions into the IT landscape while taking security and data protection concepts into account
  • ▹When errors occur, use log analysis and metrics to solve integration and operations problems together with IT operations and the provider

Requirements

  • ▹Successfully completed degree (Master or Diplom) in computer science, business informatics or a comparable qualification
  • ▹At least 5 years of solid experience as a solution or software architect, with a proven track record of successfully shaping at least one complex legacy modernisation or migration project
  • ▹Experience with refactoring strategies and architecture frameworks (for example arc42)
  • ▹Deep understanding of Java and SQL (Oracle) and solid knowledge of modern architecture patterns (for example Modulith, SCS, microservices)
  • ▹Basic understanding of modern frontends (Angular, Electron)
  • ▹Confident interaction with external stakeholders and internal teams, and the ability to communicate complex matters clearly
  • ▹Experience with monitoring and logging tools (for example OpenSearch, Grafana, Prometheus) for fault analysis in distributed systems

Nice to have

  • ▹Solid knowledge of API concepts and experience with public-sector standards (XÖV, XJustiz) and regulated environments
