OrioleDB Deployment Engineer (AMER)

Responsibilities

• ▹Package software into the supabase/postgres repo using Nix (with flakes) and gradually move packaging from traditional to Nix
• ▹Manage OrioleDB release lifecycles, including timely major, minor and extension upgrades
• ▹Expand platform release systems so developers can increasingly self-serve
• ▹Optimize CI/CD and tooling, especially GitHub Actions, team tooling and testing/release approaches
• ▹Proactively identify and fix production issues in customer deployments
• ▹Maintain best practices and tests to improve stability and reduce deployment risk
• ▹Co-own the integration of OrioleDB into the Supabase product

Requirements

• ▹3+ years of experience with PostgreSQL and its ecosystem, including extensions and performance optimization
• ▹Proven infrastructure expertise in management, tooling and optimization
• ▹Proficiency in Nix (including flakes) alongside Ansible, Packer, Docker, QEMU/KVM, AWS and Kubernetes
• ▹Experience building for multiple architectures, specifically Linux and Darwin/macOS aarch64 targets
• ▹Comfortable in polyglot environments, including builds for C/C++, Go, JavaScript and Rust projects
• ▹Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences, especially customers
• ▹Experience in async or globally distributed teams and independent, proactive problem-solving
• ▹Willingness to mentor and teach the engineering team to use and contribute to Nix-based work

Nice to have

• ▹Experience integrating emerging features into widely used managed hosted product platforms
