Senior Engineering Manager (hands-on) - Work Environment

Responsibilities

• ▹Build Alan Home, the portal every employee opens first and the source of truth for who is who and who has access to what
• ▹Build the rails the company runs on: the automation platform, Identity & Access Management, Privileged Access Management and user lifecycle automation across 25+ systems
• ▹Build Alan-native software instead of generic SaaS and hold the bar on which replacements earn their place, with a written case and a real ROI
• ▹Build the team: hire, decide what it works on and own talent density, onboarding, feedback and the mix of skills
• ▹Provide technical direction and operational excellence: architecture calls, quality standards, security practices and incident response for systems every employee depends on
• ▹Stay hands-on: review code and write some yourself

Requirements

• ▹3+ years leading engineering teams, with a track record of building high performers
• ▹Ability to partner with other product functions as a true equal: shape the roadmap, name trade-offs honestly and help the team commit to what it can deliver
• ▹Experience establishing engineering excellence standards, with the ability to guide architectural decisions
• ▹Experience with modern development practices and AI-assisted development tools
• ▹Recent hands-on experience: you still review code and still write some
• ▹Fluent English (French is a plus but not required)
• ▹Legal eligibility to work in France, Belgium or Spain
• ▹Excitement about healthcare technology and innovation
• ▹Understanding that great engineering teams are built on psychological safety and continuous learning
