Head of Engineering

Responsibilities

• ▹Own software development across the different products and teams: realistic roadmaps, early visibility of dependencies, reliably met commitments
• ▹Steer engineering capacity together with Product & Growth along company and product priorities, establish clear delivery routines and resolve cross-team blockers with concrete options and recommendations
• ▹Lead and develop engineering leads and key technical people, and set clear roles, responsibilities and expectations within the development teams
• ▹Further develop the organization, career paths, succession planning, hiring and onboarding together with P&O and the CPTO
• ▹Develop binding standards for code quality, reviews, testing, documentation and release readiness
• ▹Transparently assess and systematically prioritize technical optimization needs
• ▹Make AI-assisted software development a fixed part of the engineering system, from standards and training to safe tool use and reusable best practices
• ▹Work closely with Product & Growth, IT Operations, Cyber Security, Customer Success, Partner Management and other technical contacts within the comrce group
• ▹Resolve conflicts between product delivery, technical quality and available capacity, and ensure transparent decisions, clear handovers and aligned release, rollback and incident processes
• ▹Together with the Head of IT Operations, ensure the software can be operated stably, securely and efficiently
• ▹Anchor secure software development and security-by-design in the development lifecycle: security requirements in architecture, implementation, reviews, testing and dependency management
• ▹For security findings and incidents, provide the right engineering resources for analysis, remediation and lasting improvements

Requirements

• ▹Several years of experience leading software development organizations, ideally in a SaaS, platform or e-commerce environment
• ▹Previous experience leading multiple engineering teams or engineering leads, with an understanding of how to develop technical organizations in a structured way and distribute responsibility sensibly
