Staff Backend Engineer - Accounts

About the Team : The Accounts team owns some of the most critical infrastructure at the core of Cloudinary's platform. We are responsible for identity, access, and account management across all Cloudinary products - from authentication and fine-grained authorization to account provisioning and enterprise integrations. Our work ensures secure and scalable access control, supports complex enterprise use cases, and powers internal systems relied upon by every team in the company. We collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Platform, and Security to deliver reliable and high-impact solutions. If you’re passionate about building foundational backend systems that scale globally and support great challenges - this is the team to join. #LI-SL1 As Part Of Your Role, You Will: Architect, design, and develop highly available, distributed systems and APIs at the core of Cloudinary's platform Lead solutions for the business application platform layer with robustness, security, and monitoring in mind Become a company-wide focal point for identity, access, and account-management knowledge Lead by example, mentor peers, and ensure high standards of code quality Work with product managers and business partners to frame problems within the business and product context Your Qualifications: 10+ years of strong back-end capabilities while working on a cloud-based, microservice architecture Proven engineering leadership in designing backend solutions across distributed services. Demonstrated experience driving change within an organization and leading complex technical projects Experience with web technologies, and familiarity with scale, latency, and security concerns. Expertise in high-scale, distributed cloud architectures Experience working in AI-Driven Development, preferably SDD. Experience improving quality through thoughtful code reviews, appropriate testing, proper rollout, monitoring, and proactive changes Experience building large-scale infrastructure applications or similar experience Profound experience working with databases B.Sc. in Computer Science or similar Solid programming experience in Ruby and Go - Advantage Advantage: Deep knowledge of authentication, authorization, and permission models
