### What to Expect What To ExpectYou will be an integral part of the Materials Engineering organization, delivering new materials and manufacturing processes that revolutionize Tesla's products to build a world of amazing abundance. As a Materials Engineer, you will support the design, validation and implementation of new thermoplastic and composite materials. Partnering with cross-functional teams, you'll enable validation, resolve critical issues, and push continuous improvement forward. This is a 1-year fixed-term contract at Tesla Engineering Germany GmbH and based in Berlin, Germany. ### What You’ll Do * Develop and prototype new thermoplastic and composite materials and processing strategies to enable future vehicle designs with lower manufacturing costs and improved quality. * Provide direction to Design Engineers for optimal materials and processes selection by challenging the requirements. * Generate, interpret, and summarize materials test data using relevant characterization tools (e.g. FTIR, DSC, TGA, DMA, rheometry, mechanical testing, environmental aging) and create links between processing, structure, and properties to inform engineering design decisions. * Develop or edit specifications and test procedures to define procurement and manufacturing quality standards, including acceptance criteria. * Support different stakeholders to drive issue resolution. ### What You’ll Bring * Education in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science or related field. * 2+ years’ work experience as a materials engineer or related role. * Understanding of process-structure-property relationships in polymers and their relevant manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, compression molding, extrusion, thermoforming). Familiarity with material modeling or simulation tools (e.g. Moldflow, Sigmasoft, LS-Dyna, ANSYS) is a plus. * Demonstrated hands-on experience in materials characterization and testing with the ability to assess accuracy and limitations is a must. Experience with thermoplastics processing tools (injection molding, thermoforming, etc.) is a plus. * Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, meet deadlines, and manage time independently. * Strong communication skills to educate peers, build relationships with suppliers, and support cross-functional collaboration.Please apply with your CV in English.
