Senior Software Test Engineer

Job Description

As the Senior Software Test Engineer, you will be expected to perform the verification & validation efforts of medical devices/systems, with regards to sustaining/product engineering. You will work as part of an R&D team in the delivery of complex systems, including software development, system, hardware, electrical, service and quality engineering. You will be responsible for the design and execution of system, integration, and regression level testing. You will have a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, test tools and best practices, with an emphasis on delivering a high-quality product to our customers. You will be responsible for ensuring the overall quality of the product, while adhering to internal process to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. You will also participate in the development of internal test strategies and continuous test improvement.

​Responsibilities

This role shall include, but is not limited to;

• Analyzing requirements and the creation of verification & validation plans, protocols, reports and traceability matrixes.

• Hands-on testing of new product features including software, hardware, and firmware validation.

• Performing end-to-end testing of the product, including system, integration, and regression level testing.

• Identify and track defects/SCR as well as troubleshooting customer complaints to resolution.

• providing test/V&V estimates for the project.

• ensuring that all identified issues are triaged/investigated for the project.

• Identification/implementation of process improvements and applying testing best practices.

• Identifying/ensuring the setup of any required test environments to complete any validation related activities.

• Ensuring that all identified issues are triaged/investigated for the project.

• Reviewing software related documentation for the project.

• Providing regular test/V&V updates to the R&D team and key stakeholders.

• Mentoring other members of the team on best practices, process and problem solving.

• Responsible for general lab/instrument setup, configuration and general up-keep.

• As required, help grow engineering teams by interviewing and getting involved in hiring process.

Preferred Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Engineering or Computer Science

• A minimum of 8 year’s relevant industry and supervisory experience

• Knowledge or experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies in software development

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• ISTQB Foundation/Advanced Certification, Scrum Master Certification and/or experience in Test Automation would be an advantage.

• Take initiatives outside of day-to-day tasks, ability to self-direct, manage own work/timelines and ability to lead the test validation activities.

• Experience within an FDA regulated industry would be an advantage.
