Water / Wastewater Civil Engineering Co-Op

Gain practical experience in civil engineering focusing on water/wastewater projects with our team as a Water/Wastewater Civil Engineer Co-op. In this role, you'll work alongside early career and experienced engineers to gain an understanding of water/wastewater design and consulting. You'll gain hands-on experience across areas that could include sewers, mains, lift and booster stations, rehabilitation projects, and water and wastewater treatment facilities while developing the technical skills and problem-solving abilities that will create a foundation for your career. What You’ll Do Be a part of the project team and under the supervision of Professional Engineers, performing manhole inspections throughout the City of Akron sewer systems Provide knowledge of municipal infrastructure in a real-lie application of civil engineering  Locate manholes, take photos using a tablet, and perform inspection for infiltration and cracks  Gain field and office experience Skills & Qualifications Current undergraduate student in good academic standing pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program and completion of one year coursework required Abilti to lift manhole covers up to 80lbs Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Excel, and Word Ability to learn PDF markup/review tools, such as BlueBeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat Ability to learn AutoCAD or REVIT design software packages, direct experience is a plus Excellent communication skills and a willingness to collaborate, learn, and grow Availability to work full-time for Summer of 2027 Semester Valid driver’s license and good driving record; some travel may be required Typical work schedule is Monday – Friday, 30 – 40 hours per week. Housing and transportation to/from work is the responsibility of the co-op, parking is provided.
