Calendly is looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager who blends people leadership with technical execution and a product-driven mindset for its Growth group. Partnering with the Director of Engineering, you will build a best-in-class scheduling experience and lead initiatives across Activation, Retention, Onboarding, and Monetization. You will mentor and grow engineers, hire and build squads, and drive the adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices. The base salary range is $193,855–$281,888 depending on geographic tier.
Responsibilities
- ▹Hire engineers to build out new and existing squads, with oversight of all team members on the squad.
- ▹Solve problems for millions of users, from local businesses to large enterprise customers.
- ▹Drive initiatives that reimagine how the world meets.
- ▹Coach, mentor, and onboard new engineering team members.
- ▹Ensure the career development, satisfaction, and productivity of the engineers on your team.
- ▹Identify future technical needs and create plans to meet them.
- ▹Provide feedback and guidance to continuously grow and scale the team.
- ▹Drive adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices to improve productivity, experimentation velocity, and product delivery.
Requirements
- ▹5+ years of experience managing a team of software engineers.
- ▹10+ years of overall development experience (Ruby on Rails preferred; Python, Go, and PHP also accepted).
- ▹Prior experience leading software teams focused on Product Growth (Activation, Retention, Onboarding, Monetization).
- ▹Deep proficiency with web application development and SaaS.
- ▹Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows to improve delivery velocity, quality, or effectiveness.
- ▹A thoughtful perspective on how AI is transforming software engineering and team operating models.
- ▹Experience planning and leading development efforts on large projects.
- ▹Experience leading and mentoring teams toward big goals with consistent execution.
- ▹Experience with service-oriented architecture (bonus: migrating a monolith into services).
- ▹Experience leading Agile/Scrum ceremonies and working within a balanced engineering and product team.
- ▹Experience with MVC frameworks for backend development.
- ▹Availability for on-call rotation for business-critical alerts.
- ▹Authorized to work lawfully in the United States; Calendly does not offer immigration sponsorship.
