A 1-year contract role in Budapest (ideally for a freelancer) shaping the backend architecture of a partner's next-generation environmental monitoring platform, replacing and modernizing legacy systems with a cutting-edge, cloud-first .NET stack.

Responsibilities

  • ▹Participate in the replacement and continuous modernization of legacy systems using a cutting-edge tech stack
  • ▹Design, develop and maintain scalable back-end solutions with .NET 8/9 and ASP.NET Core
  • ▹Work with MS SQL and Entity Framework Core to implement efficient, optimized data access strategies
  • ▹Occasionally use SqlKata, Dapper or other ORM/micro-ORM technologies
  • ▹Collaborate in code reviews, knowledge sharing and mentoring junior developers
  • ▹Ensure code quality through unit and integration testing
  • ▹Utilize Docker-based environments locally and work in a cloud-first architecture (Azure)
  • ▹Participate in CI/CD pipeline maintenance using GitLab
  • ▹Rarely, work with legacy UI technologies like Windows Forms or WPF
  • ▹Keep up-to-date with the latest .NET ecosystem updates (refreshed yearly)

Requirements

  • ▹4+ years of experience as a Back-End Developer with .NET technologies (preferably medior-senior level)
  • ▹Deep knowledge of .NET 8/9, ASP.NET Core and Entity Framework Core
  • ▹Strong experience with relational databases, particularly MS SQL
  • ▹Comfortable working in and contributing to CI/CD pipelines (GitLab)
  • ▹Hybrid work model requiring 2-3 days of on-site presence in the Budapest office
  • ▹Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Nice to have

  • ▹Familiarity with SqlKata, Dapper or other data access frameworks
  • ▹Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes)
  • ▹Experience with Azure cloud services
  • ▹Ideal candidate is a freelancer
