Product Engineer

Responsibilities

• ▹Lead the development of internal applications, treating them as first-class products
• ▹Collaborate closely with the VP of Product to translate research needs into technical roadmaps
• ▹Own the end-to-end lifecycle of internal tools: architecture, backend design, frontend deployment
• ▹Design and build robust backend services in Python interfacing with core AI and research engines
• ▹Partner with the Data Engineering team on ingestion and visualization of complex datasets
• ▹Integrate disparate workflows into a unified, high-performance internal platform
• ▹Develop clean, functional, responsive UIs for researchers
• ▹Maintain a high bar for the 'curated' feel of internal applications
• ▹Collaborate with AI Researchers and Data Engineers to understand tooling needs

Requirements

• ▹At least 4+ years of professional full-stack engineering experience building production-grade applications
• ▹Strong backend expertise, specifically Python and modern web frameworks (FastAPI, Django or Flask)
• ▹Proficiency with Node.js and modern frontend frameworks (React, Vue or TypeScript), strong UI/UX eye
• ▹A 'builder' mentality, comfortable with greenfield projects and architectural decisions
• ▹Product-focused mindset, thinking beyond tickets about the user's experience
• ▹Excitement for enabling scientific discovery, even without a science background

Nice to have

• ▹Experience in an early-stage startup environment wearing multiple hats
• ▹Previous experience building internal tools, dashboards or admin interfaces for data-heavy companies
• ▹Knowledge of modern DevOps practices and cloud infrastructure (GCP, Docker, Kubernetes)
• ▹Academic background or personal interest in Materials Science, Chemistry or Sustainability
