Engineering Manager, Tax Platform

Responsibilities

• ▹Work with a team of talented engineers and product managers to drive growth, solve user problems, and deliver operational excellence
• ▹Collaborate with stakeholders across disciplines, time zones, and the company to achieve the best outcomes for users
• ▹Build the plans, rhythm, and support for the team to deliver its best work
• ▹Contribute to the broader Tax Engineering organization through technical leadership, process and tooling improvements
• ▹Lead, coach, retain, and recruit engineers on the team
• ▹Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Stripe's engineering management team

Requirements

• ▹Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, plus 10 years of software engineering experience, at least 5 of which post-bachelor's progressive experience
• ▹5 years managing, building, and leading engineering teams that deliver software products
• ▹Applying hands-on technical expertise at scale to guide architecture and technical strategy in collaboration with staff engineers
• ▹Designing, delivering, and operating business-critical services at scale
• ▹Experience with user-facing products, front-end and back-end services, scaling database systems, and API design on a team of 4-8 engineers
• ▹Designing and building services in monolithic and multi-service architectures
• ▹DevOps and operational ownership, from standing up observability through managing operational rigor and on-call health
