Senior Software Engineer, Developer Infrastructure

Backend Developer • Remote • Full-time • 📍 San Francisco

The Developer Infrastructure team owns the systems that make every Sentry engineer more effective: developer environments, CI/CD, the golden path for building new services, SDK publishing, and the metrics that keep it all healthy.

Stack

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the tooling that powers local and cloud-based developer environments
  • Improve CI for Sentry's codebases and CD for the deployment pipeline, keeping both fast and reliable as the org grows
  • Define and evolve the golden path for building new services and libraries at Sentry
  • Contribute to SDK and library publishing tooling and release processes
  • Build metrics, dashboards, and flaky test detection for deployment health and CI reliability visibility
  • Build tooling that gives engineers and AI coding agents the context they need to work within Sentry's systems and conventions
  • Partner directly with engineers across Sentry to find where infrastructure and developer experience need improvement

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer or in a similar role
  • Experience leading the full development lifecycle of complex projects
  • Strong proficiency in Python
  • Experience with Docker and container orchestration in production
  • Familiarity with CI/CD systems and what makes them fast and reliable at scale
  • A track record of building or significantly improving developer tooling or infrastructure
  • Demonstrated ability to influence engineering teams outside your own, building buy-in without direct authority
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
