Responsibilities

• ▹Lead delivery through Shape Up cycles — turning pitches into work engineers can execute
• ▹Own accountability over technical decisions: architecture choices, build-vs-extend tradeoffs, maintaining quality in systems that move real money
• ▹Develop engineers in a high-autonomy environment, addressing performance issues without micromanagement
• ▹Hire for a functional-programming shop: engineers who can thrive writing Clojure (or similar) or are willing to learn it
• ▹Write code on non-critical paths, review PRs, and pair with engineers

Requirements

• ▹Functional programming skills — built production systems or led teams that have, using Clojure, Elixir, Erlang, Haskell, Scala, or similar languages
• ▹Experience building high-performing teams — hiring well, developing engineers, creating environments where people do their best work
• ▹Comfort working with product teams, not just executing on requirements handed down
• ▹Comfort with high autonomy and startup pace, moving forward without perfect clarity

Nice to have

• ▹Fintech domain expertise — payments, banking, cards, or similar areas where compliance and money movement matter
