Senior Platform Engineer

Backend Developer • Remote • Full-time • 📍 SF Office

Abridge's Platform team is looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to help scale the company's cloud infrastructure and developer experience during a hyperscale growth phase.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and scale cloud infrastructure including networking, IAM, Kubernetes, databases, streaming/pubsub platforms, and storage
  • Design and implement build pipelines, branching strategies, and release management tooling for a rapidly growing engineering team
  • Design, implement, and scale cloud security practices including CI/deployment scans, least-privilege access controls, auditing, and SoC2/HIPAA compliance
  • Advocate for and implement fast, scalable application testing pipelines including end-to-end UI tests and hyperscale load tests
  • Improve incident response through better observability, runbooks, and incident response practices
  • Bridge the gap between local development and production environments while maximizing engineering velocity and security
  • Document and train the engineering team on the solutions being built, evangelizing cloud-native design strategies
  • Be a public evangelist for Abridge in the platform engineering community, including conferences and open source

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years of Infrastructure as Code experience in a cloud-first organization
  • Experience building and scaling on Kubernetes, with related cloud-native technologies (ArgoCD, Argo Rollouts, Istio)
  • Familiarity with maintaining Kubernetes clusters, including version upgrades, service mesh management, and helm charts
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for both infrastructure and application code (Terragrunt, Atlas, ArgoCD, Octopus Deploy, Travis CI)
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tooling at scale, e.g. Grafana, Datadog, Honeycomb
  • Comfortable implementing and securing services in Google Cloud Platform via Infrastructure as Code (GCP Projects, VPC Networks, GKE, IAM)
  • Experience with backend languages (e.g. Python, Go, Node, Rust)
  • Up to date on industry best practices and tools
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% and participate in a rotational on-call schedule
