Test Automation Engineer

Responsibilities

• ▹Functional, regression, and integration testing of complex, distributed systems across web, API, database, and mobile platforms
• ▹Understand end-to-end system architectures, including how frontend, backend services, APIs, and databases interact
• ▹API testing (REST/JSON): validate request/response payloads, error handling, and edge cases (e.g. Postman, REST clients)
• ▹Write, optimize, and debug SQL queries for test data preparation, validation, and root-cause analysis
• ▹Analyze application, API, and system logs to investigate issues
• ▹Work with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g. Jira, Xray, TestRail)
• ▹Use monitoring tools and log analysis (Graylog)
• ▹Test mobile applications on iOS and Android (emulators/simulators and/or real devices)
• ▹Automate tests using Java with Selenium, or JavaScript/TypeScript with Playwright
• ▹Understand existing automation frameworks, contribute new automated tests, and maintain test suites

Requirements

• ▹Strong experience in functional, regression, and integration testing of complex, distributed systems across web, API, database, and mobile platforms
• ▹Solid understanding of end-to-end system architectures
• ▹Proficient in API testing (REST/JSON)
• ▹Strong SQL skills
• ▹Good understanding of database concepts (relational databases, data modeling, normalization)
• ▹Experience troubleshooting issues using application, API, and system logs
• ▹Hands-on experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g. Jira, Xray, TestRail)
• ▹Experience with monitoring tools and log analysis (Graylog)
• ▹Understanding of mobile application testing on iOS and Android
• ▹Experience or strong interest in test automation: Java with Selenium, or JavaScript/TypeScript with Playwright
• ▹Ability to understand and maintain existing automation frameworks
• ▹Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines is a plus

Nice to have

• ▹Experience testing microservices-based architectures
• ▹Familiarity with cloud environments and cloud-native applications
• ▹Basic experience with performance, reliability, or security testing
• ▹German language knowledge
