Senior IT Administrator – Linux

Stack

Responsibilities

• ▹Work independently on complex technical issues and tickets: analyze, decide, and implement cleanly
• ▹Direct customer contact: understand requirements, design and implement technical solutions end-to-end
• ▹Automation: build playbooks, pipelines, and internal tools with Ansible, GitOps, and CI/CD
• ▹Evaluate new storage architectures, develop internal tools, redesign existing workflows
• ▹Operate Linux systems, virtualization, storage, and highly available services; handle networking topics (FRR, nftables, policy routing, VyOS, OPNsense)

Requirements

• ▹Residence in Germany
• ▹Very good German (minimum C1)
• ▹Solid senior-level experience in complex Linux and infrastructure environments
• ▹Excellent knowledge of Proxmox and Debian (PVE, PBS, PDM, including CLI, API, cluster internals)
• ▹Confident with package management: building own .deb packages, running apt repositories, creating custom systemd units
• ▹Experience running storage systems in production (e.g., ZFS and/or Ceph)
• ▹Experience operating highly available services (e.g., HAProxy, PostgreSQL or MySQL replication)
• ▹Familiarity with and active use of monitoring stacks (CheckMK, Prometheus, Grafana)
• ▹Treats automation as a core part of clean administration (Ansible, GitOps, CI/CD)

Nice to have

• ▹Basic understanding of modern networking technologies (BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, FRR, nftables)
• ▹Deeper understanding of Linux internals (kernel modules, eBPF, network stack, performance tuning)
• ▹Interest in actively improving infrastructure beyond classic admin tasks
