The engineer drives architectural decisions, owns the cross-cluster Istio service mesh and Confluent Kafka performance, and mentors junior engineers. Responsibilities
- ▹Design and evolve AWS-based infrastructure using Terraform and ArgoCD
- ▹Own the cross-cluster Istio service mesh, implementing policies and improving traffic management
- ▹Take ownership of the performance and scaling of Confluent Kafka deployments
- ▹Monitor, optimise and automate systems using Datadog, Opsgenie and AI-powered tooling
- ▹Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and promote engineering excellence
Requirements
- ▹5+ years of hands-on experience building and managing AWS infrastructure (EC2, VPC, IAM, RDS, KMS)
- ▹Strong expertise in Docker, Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation)
- ▹3+ years optimizing cluster-level Kafka deployments or cloud relational/NoSQL databases in AWS
- ▹Advanced understanding of cloud networking including routing, load balancing, VPC design and service mesh
Nice to have
- ▹Experience with Confluent Kafka
- ▹Familiarity with multi-cluster service-mesh networking
