MongoDB Technical Services Engineers use exceptional problem solving and customer service skills, along with deep technical experience, to advise customers and solve complex MongoDB problems across the entire ecosystem: database server, drivers, cloud and infrastructure, including Atlas and Cloud Manager. The role is based in Dublin with a hybrid model; after the initial ramp-up it moves to a permanent Wednesday-Sunday work week.
Responsibilities
- ▹Work with MongoDB's largest customers to resolve complex issues around architecture, performance, recovery and security
- ▹Act as an expert resource on best practices for running MongoDB at scale
- ▹Advocate for customers' needs with product management and development teams
- ▹Contribute to internal projects, including development of support tools for performance, benchmarking and diagnostics
- ▹Mentor and ramp new team members and build knowledge of new product lines
Requirements
- ▹Strong Linux systems administration and troubleshooting skills (performance, memory, I/O, security, networking, clustering, storage)
- ▹Good understanding of networking concepts and protocols such as DNS, TCP/IP and SSL/TLS
- ▹Experience supporting and troubleshooting complex mission-critical production systems
- ▹Strong diagnostic ability across the application, database, storage and infrastructure tiers
- ▹Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP in production environments
- ▹Experience operating or troubleshooting Kubernetes or similar orchestration platforms
- ▹Familiarity with database administration concepts across RDBMS and/or NoSQL systems (MongoDB preferred)
- ▹Experience with backup, restore and disaster recovery workflows
- ▹Basic scripting or coding ability and comfort reading production code or automation
- ▹Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- ▹Based in Dublin; after ramp-up, a permanent Wednesday-Sunday 9am-6pm work week with 3 in-office days
Nice to have
- ▹Experience with MongoDB products such as Atlas, Cloud Manager, Ops Manager, Compass or Kubernetes Operator
- ▹Experience with DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices
- ▹Experience with authentication systems such as LDAP, Kerberos or Active Directory
- ▹Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios or New Relic
- ▹Experience managing large-scale databases
- ▹Exposure to AI-related technologies such as Vector Search
- ▹Coding experience in Python, Go, Java, Ruby, C/C++ or similar languages
- ▹Experience supporting weekend or non-standard coverage models
