Staff Software Engineer - Flights

Responsibilities

• ▹Own the technical vision across teams and contribute to annual and quarterly plans with product and engineering managers
• ▹Stay hands-on in one or two teams, spending the rest of the time mentoring, unblocking delivery and working with dependent teams
• ▹Turn business goals into engineering approaches, propose annual objectives and identify architectural changes needed for scale
• ▹Support engineers through mentorship, design reviews and pairing
• ▹Explain technical complexity to the wider business
• ▹Coordinate across squads, contribute to engineering initiatives and resolve dependencies and blockers
• ▹Work across teams on core platform reliability, self-serve post-booking, booking error recovery and airline inventory scaling

Requirements

• ▹Product engineering mindset: work end to end from customer problems to deployment and measuring impact
• ▹Cross-team technical leadership: coordinating multi-team initiatives, managing dependencies and aligning stakeholders
• ▹Architectural judgment: design scalable, evolvable systems and articulate a clear technical roadmap
• ▹You build it, you run it experience: monitoring, testing, rolling out and operating your own services
• ▹Experience in a domain with significant underlying complexity, ideally flights or travel, but fintech also fits
• ▹Backend-heavy, full-stack comfortable (roughly 80% backend, 20% frontend); Python and AWS used, open to people with different tools who learn quickly
• ▹Operational maturity: observability and reliability practices, SLOs, incidents, blameless post-mortems
• ▹Mentorship and influence
• ▹Experience with or strong interest in AI-augmented development (agentic coding, AI-assisted code review)
• ▹English is the official office language; the resume must be submitted in English
• ▹Based within commuting distance of the hubs (in-person 3 days a week)
