
Software Engineer – Data Infrastructure – OpenSearch/Elasticsearch
Canonical is building a comprehensive automation suite delivering multi-cloud and on-premise data solutions for enterprises. The OpenSearch team focuses on creating enterprise automation for search and analytics suites such as OpenSearch and Elasticsearch, automating operations like fault-tolerant replication, TLS and installation. Multiple openings are available across a range of seniority levels, with the right position determined by your experience and interests. The role can be filled in European, Middle East and African time zones.
Responsibilities
- ▹Collaborate proactively with an internationally distributed team
- ▹Write high-quality, idiomatic Python code to create new features
- ▹Debug issues and interact with upstream communities publicly
- ▹Provide domain expertise on the data system to other teams within Canonical
- ▹Work from home with global travel of 2 to 4 weeks per year for internal and external events
Requirements
- ▹Proven hands-on experience in software development using Python
- ▹Proven hands-on experience in distributed systems development
- ▹Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM or a similar degree
- ▹Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
Nice to have
- ▹Experience operating and managing search and analytics engines such as Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana and OpenSearch
- ▹Experience with Linux systems administration, package management and operations
- ▹Experience with public cloud or a private cloud solution such as OpenStack
- ▹Experience operating Kubernetes clusters for serious persistent data services
