Canonical is hiring a Linux Devices Software Engineer for its SnapD team to work on mission-critical Golang code focused on software delivery, containers, security sandboxing, telemetry and device management. Snaps are a next-generation software packaging and delivery system for Linux, designed for safety, security and robustness across IoT devices, desktops and servers. The role is remote within the EMEA or Americas regions and demands an obsession with quality and performance at the heart of the operating system.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate proactively with a distributed team
  • Write high-quality code to create new features
  • Debug Linux system-level issues and produce high-quality fixes
  • Review code produced by other engineers
  • Discuss ideas and collaborate on finding good solutions
  • Focus on robustness despite unexpected events such as power outages

Requirements

  • Passion for technology and working with talented people
  • Curiosity, flexibility, articulateness and accountability
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM or a similar field
  • Professional software development experience using Go, Python, C or C++
  • Knowledge of Linux system-level fundamentals such as cgroups, namespaces and AppArmor
  • Commitment to software testing, code reviews and maintainable code

  • Previous experience with Golang
