Staff Software Engineer, Backend (Card)

Responsibilities

• ▹Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long horizon and tie it to business-impacting projects
• ▹Serve as lead software engineer for all cards in the EU
• ▹Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics on technical sustainability and trade-offs
• ▹Act as a force-multiplier through advocacy of technical solutions and operational processes
• ▹Own team operations and availability: monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, testing, alerting, on-call
• ▹Set code review and design standards and advocate for them beyond the team
• ▹Develop talent on the team through feedback, guidance, and leading by example

Requirements

• ▹8+ years of experience as a software engineer
• ▹Proficiency designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale with Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes
• ▹Proficiency developing front end applications
• ▹Experience delivering major features or system components, or deprecating functionality, through a defined technical and execution plan
• ▹Ability to move from low-level language idioms to large system architecture
• ▹Track record of gathering and iterating on feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers
• ▹Strong verbal and written communication skills for a global engineering team
