Senior Platform Engineer

Responsibilities

• ▹Lead the evaluation and implementation of an API gateway solution for the platform
• ▹Consolidate existing pipelines and create a blueprint covering security standards and best practices
• ▹Apply and transfer API gateway knowledge across cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• ▹Contribute to building and operating shared platform capabilities for application development teams

Requirements

• ▹Broad technical background across application development, cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and platform engineering
• ▹Previous experience building or contributing to an internal developer platform, developer portal, or shared cloud platform
• ▹Hands-on experience with API gateway technologies such as Kong, Apache APISIX, Envoy, AWS API Gateway, Azure API Management, or similar
• ▹Good understanding of API security, authentication and authorization, traffic management, rate limiting, resilience, service discovery, and observability
• ▹Strong software engineering skills in Java or Kotlin
• ▹Practical experience with cloud platforms, containers, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and observability
• ▹Able to work exploratively with incomplete requirements and translate business or technical objectives into implementable solutions
• ▹Experience evaluating technical options, creating prototypes, documenting trade-offs, and presenting recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• ▹Used to taking end-to-end ownership in agile, cross-functional teams without fully specified tickets
• ▹Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills; very good English (German is a plus)

Nice to have

• ▹Hands-on coding experience in Java or Kotlin
• ▹Familiarity with cloud functions or serverless services (e.g. AWS Lambda)
• ▹German language skills
