Principal Engineer (Payments)

Responsibilities

• ▹Shape the technical direction of Masabi's payments platform, contributing to architecture and standards
• ▹Design and deliver scalable, secure, resilient and cost-effective payment solutions
• ▹Support teams in building towards a modern, microservices-based architecture
• ▹Stay close to technical delivery through architecture reviews and design discussions
• ▹Identify and work through complex technical challenges related to scalability and resilience
• ▹Act as senior technical advisor across engineering teams within the payments domain
• ▹Work with external providers and payment partners on integrations
• ▹Contribute to technical roadmap planning and architecture discussions
• ▹Produce technical documentation and contribute to engineering standards

Requirements

• ▹Strong experience working on payment systems, including PSPs, gateways, EMV, contactless EMV, acquirers
• ▹Good understanding of payment flows, transaction lifecycles and system design considerations
• ▹Experience designing and evolving systems

Masabi builds fare collection platforms (the Justride platform) that let riders buy and present tickets for public transport via mobile phones, ticket machines or bank card taps. It is used in over 250 locations worldwide, including major cities, and has partnered with Uber, Moovit and Transit through its mobile ticketing SDK.
