Miris is hiring Applied Researchers for its fully remote R&D team to push Gaussian splatting and radiance field research forward, delivering immersive 3D streaming experiences on low-powered mobile devices.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct applied research into representing, compressing, and streaming animated 3D content, with a strong focus on Gaussian splatting for low-power mobile AR/VR devices
  • Quickly develop proof-of-concepts and transition successful experiments into production-ready code for the streaming pipeline
  • Design and evaluate algorithms for spatial data optimization, compression, and adaptive streaming based on network conditions and device capabilities
  • Collaborate with rendering engineers to define data formats, rendering pipelines, and performance targets optimized for mobile hardware
  • Collaborate with cloud and content processing engineers on robust workflows for automated processing of diverse user input data
  • Follow and apply the latest computer graphics research on novel view synthesis for mobile devices, such as radiance fields, differentiable rendering, and photogrammetry
  • Clearly communicate research findings and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Proven track record advancing the state of the art in radiance fields, photogrammetry, machine learning for graphics, or real-time rendering, with publications at top-tier venues (SIGGRAPH, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICML)
  • Strong understanding of modern 3D rendering pipelines and concepts
  • Excellent programming skills in Python and C++
  • Experience with performance optimization and writing efficient code for resource-constrained environments
  • Ability to quickly understand and implement complex research papers
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver working code that solves real-world problems
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment

Nice to have

  • Experience with radiance field techniques (e.g., Gaussian splatting, NeRF) and related novel spatial representation techniques
