Remote Database Administrator (Cloud)

Responsibilities

• ▹Remotely perform DBA activities for customers worldwide
• ▹Automate various DBA tasks
• ▹Set up monitoring and reporting on customer systems
• ▹Perform health checks and troubleshoot issues
• ▹Help design new architectures and implement best practices
• ▹Perform upgrades and configure/monitor backups
• ▹Assist with recoveries
• ▹Participate in on-call rotation to guarantee SLAs
• ▹Manage SkySQL customers across cloud environments

Requirements

• ▹Experience with MariaDB/MySQL and surrounding tools
• ▹Knowledge of SQL query writing and optimization
• ▹Knowledge of database design, administration, development or architecture
• ▹Understanding of high availability environments and technologies
• ▹Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• ▹Excellent written and spoken English communication
• ▹Comfortable working remotely

Nice to have

• ▹Experience with a columnar database platform
• ▹Previous use of database proxying technology
• ▹Experience in a 24x7 support environment
• ▹Proficiency with multiple backup utilities
