Mozilla is looking for a senior software engineer to advance Firefox's security architecture and cryptography stack, bringing strong C/C++ and security expertise.

Stack

Responsibilities

  • Advance Firefox's security architecture and cryptography stack (cryptographic protocols, WebPKI, security-sensitive web APIs)
  • Implement and maintain security features supporting the evolution of public key infrastructure
  • Design and implement web platform security features, shipping standards-based implementations
  • Improve browser reliability, performance and resource efficiency
  • Investigate and resolve stability, correctness and performance issues
  • Analyze and improve memory usage in a complex, multi-threaded environment
  • Collaborate on security initiatives with engineers across teams
  • Participate in debugging, root cause analysis and long-term solution implementation
  • Contribute to technical design, design reviews and project planning

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering and security fundamentals, proficiency in C/C++
  • Understanding of cryptographic protocols and implementations
  • Experience building and maintaining complex software systems in large-scale, security-sensitive environments
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in multi-threaded, cross-platform native applications
  • Effective collaboration and clear technical communication with distributed teams
  • Growth mindset and curiosity about browser security and cryptography
  • Familiarity with web technologies
  • Comfortable working within large, complex, multi-language codebases

Nice to have

  • Experience with or interest in Rust
