Investigate and diagnose unstable Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connections on Windows-based computers, with in-depth analysis of the Windows BLE stack, drivers and the WinRT API.
Responsibilities
- ▹Investigate unstable BLE connections on Windows: connection drops with multiple concurrent BLE connections, GATT notification latency and packet loss
- ▹Analyze the Windows BLE stack in depth
- ▹Analyze BLE drivers from nRF Nordic chipset vendors, investigate controller firmware limitations and analyze HCI-level behavior (USB / PCIe transport)
- ▹Analyze the usage of Windows.Devices.Bluetooth and Windows.Devices.Bluetooth.GenericAttributeProfile
- ▹Identify issues caused by the asynchronous WinRT execution model, serialization of GATT operations and API limitations (lack of control over BLE connection parameters)
- ▹Provide architectural recommendations for application-side changes
- ▹Analyze Windows system logs (Event Viewer, Bluetooth ETW traces)
- ▹Use diagnostic tools such as Bluetooth LE Explorer and Windows Performance Recorder / Analyzer
- ▹Correlate application-level events with driver and stack behavior
Requirements
- ▹Solid understanding of the Windows Bluetooth stack architecture
- ▹Understanding of the differences between Win32 and WinRT
- ▹Practical experience with WinRT BLE APIs
- ▹Practical experience with BLE integration in desktop applications
