WorkOS builds developer tools and APIs for authentication, identity, and authorization to help companies become Enterprise Ready; it recently raised a $100M Series C at a $2B valuation. This role optimizes how the engineering team produces code and collaborates, serving as a bridge between infrastructure, product, and leadership to mature internal tools and systems. Fully remote (US).

Responsibilities

  • ▹Conduct internal research to understand each engineer and how they work
  • ▹Build cross-functional trust by listening to and understanding teammates
  • ▹Synthesize a variety of needs and asks into a cohesive strategy that leadership will understand and support
  • ▹Interface with leadership and vendors to procure the right tools and environments for teammates
  • ▹Improve internal tooling across the company
  • ▹Craft a long-term strategy that makes appropriate tradeoffs with short-term needs
  • ▹Be a credible and visible voice at the company so people know they are heard and understood
  • ▹Optimize codebase patterns, build toolchains, and CI

Requirements

  • ▹8+ years of experience in software development
  • ▹Excellent interpersonal skills
  • ▹Experience rolling out team-wide process/tooling changes
  • ▹Ability to identify the tradeoffs and needs of companies as they scale; ideally has seen how both start-ups and mature companies operate
  • ▹Understanding of developer tool chains, including IDEs, text editors, compilers, debuggers, and shells
  • ▹Experience writing documentation, including technical guides, coding standards, and tutorials

Nice to have

  • ▹Familiarity with the stack: TypeScript, React, and Postgres (not required)
