Senior Backend Engineer, Core Discovery

Responsibilities

• ▹Build and lead key components of Core Discovery services, with a focus on Maps/Location and Directory search
• ▹Collaborate with cross-functional teams including UX designers and data scientists
• ▹Keep up with Raya's tech ecosystem
• ▹Advocate for top-tier user experiences using feedback loops and data-driven methods
• ▹Navigate the full software development life cycle with agile and CI/CD practices

Requirements

• ▹6+ years of hands-on experience in modern software development, delivering scalable and maintainable systems
• ▹Expertise in system design and architecture, with mastery of Node.js and TypeScript
• ▹Proven experience building and scaling backend systems in production at a startup or fast-moving environment
• ▹Production experience with location-based systems: geospatial data, geo indexing, proximity and nearby queries, and mapping surfaces
• ▹Experience building search systems (relevance, ranking, Elasticsearch or similar) for a consumer product
• ▹Strong data fundamentals across a relational database (PostgreSQL) and a document store (MongoDB), including indexing and query performance
• ▹Enthusiasm for new AI tools and frameworks
