Engineering Programme Manager

Lead the delivery of complex technical programmes within Thought Machine's engineering division, planning and coordinating multi-team, multi-month initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage technical programmes: planning, milestones, success criteria and coordination of complex multi-team, multi-month engineering programmes
  • Communicate schedules, priorities and updates to all levels of the company
  • Support engineering departments in identifying alignment gaps and reducing overhead
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the product and technical details to drive programmes forward
  • Stay outcome-focused, ensuring all work supports the intended programme objectives
  • Collaborate with large cross-functional teams
  • Drive continuous improvement across the engineering organisation in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Develop tools and optimise processes to improve productivity and efficiency

Requirements

  • Proven track record managing cross-functional technical initiatives at a top-tier technology company
  • Obsessed with quality, reliability and product value, not just timely delivery
  • Understanding of a modern microservice-based tech stack (Kubernetes, Kafka, AWS/GCP) built on CI/CD
  • Good understanding of the full software development lifecycle
  • Inquisitive, problem-solving mindset
  • Self-starter able to operate autonomously leading multi-disciplinary efforts
  • Excellent organisational, written and presentation skills, strong stakeholder relationships

Nice to have

  • Knowledge or experience in the retail banking industry
  • Experience as a software engineer, infrastructure engineer or other technical role
