AI Research Intern

Stack

Responsibilities

• ▹Own a focused research question on the Bynder Labs roadmap, from literature review to evaluated experiments
• ▹Build prototypes and experiments using AWS Bedrock LLMs, embedding models, OpenSearch vector search, agent orchestration, and MCP
• ▹Design rigorous evaluations for non-deterministic AI systems (offline benchmarks, LLM-as-a-judge, online experiments)
• ▹Stay current on research, summarize it, and decide which ideas are worth implementing
• ▹Contribute clean, well-tested Python code to shared Labs repositories
• ▹Use the observability stack to understand AI system behavior in production
• ▹Communicate findings clearly in writing and at Labs reviews
• ▹Collaborate with engineers and product managers from other Bynder squads

Requirements

• ▹Available for a 6-month full-time internship starting July 2026
• ▹Enrolled in a Dutch university throughout the internship, counting toward study credits
• ▹Based in the Netherlands, studying AI, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Studies, Computational Linguistics, or quantitative Econometrics
• ▹Coursework in ML fundamentals and deep learning, plus Information Retrieval/NLP/Multi-Agent Systems/RL/Knowledge Representation
• ▹Strong Python skills, comfortable with Git and the command line, familiarity with an ML/LLM framework
• ▹Good interpersonal and communication skills
• ▹Advanced English
• ▹Joining the Amsterdam or Rotterdam office one day a week

Nice to have

• ▹Hands-on experience with vector databases or building a RAG system
• ▹Experience with LLM tool use, function calling, or MCP
• ▹Familiarity with prompt optimization literature or LLM observability tooling
• ▹Cloud experience, AWS preferred
