Staff Product Design Engineer (Mechanical)

Responsibilities

• ▹Mechanical design and development of cutting-edge wearable and other consumer devices, with a keen focus on detail, precision, and design
• ▹Driving product development with manufacturing partners in Asia, North America, and Europe
• ▹Building, testing, and iterating on prototypes quickly
• ▹Working with leadership to define and drive product roadmap and timelines

Requirements

• ▹10+ years as a consumer product design engineer on creative, fast-paced, collaborative teams alongside Industrial Designers, Hardware Engineers, and UX Designers; wearables experience preferred
• ▹Independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria
• ▹3D CAD experience (NX or Solidworks) designing densely packaged consumer electronic parts: PCBs, flexes, antennas, enclosures, mechanisms, batteries
• ▹Ability to quickly and effectively build prototypes and evaluate them with standard test equipment
• ▹Broad knowledge of materials and scalable manufacturing processes, with a deep foundation in mechanics of materials
• ▹Problem-solving and analytical skills, comfort with ambiguity
• ▹Driven technical leadership: able to work independently and mentor across multiple organizations
• ▹Communication and collaboration skills, explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
