Backend Developer – Microservices & AI Integration

Stack

Responsibilities

• ▹Develop scalable, maintainable microservices for the br.AI.n and SemReasoner platforms using Java and Spring Boot, with a strong focus on architectural quality
• ▹Implement agentic integrations: connect external services and protocols - MCP servers, LLM APIs, third-party systems - into the platform
• ▹Work closely with the SemReasoner semantic core, turning ontologies, knowledge graphs, and semantic reasoning into production-ready services
• ▹Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions), ensuring fast, safe, and reproducible releases
• ▹Operate services in Kubernetes and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP), ensuring they run reliably in production, not just work
• ▹Handle MLOps: integrate AI workflows into production infrastructure, from model deployment to automating training and inference pipelines (e.g. Kubeflow, MLflow, Argo Workflows)
• ▹Test new ideas early through pragmatic proofs of concept with a clear validation goal

Requirements

• ▹Several years of experience with Java and Spring Boot, microservice architectures, and designing scalable, loosely coupled systems
• ▹Agentic AI mindset: understanding how LLMs, agents, and semantic reasoning interact, and applying that to backend architecture decisions
• ▹DevOps competence: CI/CD as a standard practice, not an add-on
• ▹Experience operating services in cloud environments and orchestrating container workloads
• ▹Analytical depth: enjoys untangling complex problems and finds solutions that stay understandable months later
• ▹Team orientation and communication: works openly, shares knowledge proactively, and contributes constructively to architecture discussions

Nice to have

• ▹Experience with MLOps tools (e.g. Kubeflow, MLflow) - or, failing that, curiosity and willingness to learn them quickly
