Senior Snowflake Data Engineer

The company is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to take an existing data platform further rather than start from scratch, taking technical ownership of a Snowflake-based data platform, mentoring the team, and building modern data pipelines and scalable architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Take technical ownership of the Snowflake-based data platform and develop it strategically and technologically
  • Design and optimize scalable data architectures, data warehouses, and data models, focusing on performance, stability, and future readiness
  • Develop, operate, and optimize performant ETL/ELT pipelines, ensuring reliable and efficient data delivery
  • Define best practices for data quality, data modeling, and architecture
  • Act as the central point of contact for technical questions, aligning requirements with stakeholders
  • Bring your experience into architecture decisions, establish technical standards, and support the team through coaching and knowledge sharing

Requirements

  • Several years of professional experience (min. 5-7 years) in data engineering, having successfully implemented complex data platforms and scalable data solutions
  • Solid hands-on experience with Snowflake and a good understanding of modern data architectures, performance optimization, and best practices
  • Confident with SQL and Python, ideally with experience in tools such as dbt, Apache Airflow, or Dagster, as well as cloud technologies, preferably Azure
  • Familiar with building and operating ETL/ELT pipelines, data modeling, data warehouses, and data lakes
  • Good understanding of scalable data architectures, with a focus on stable, performant, and maintainable solutions
  • Ownership, technical judgment, and the ability to act as a sparring partner sharing your expertise
  • Confident German, good English

Nice to have

  • Experience with dbt, Apache Airflow, or Dagster
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud environments
