Sr. Software Engineer in Test - Embedded Payments

Responsibilities

• ▹Collaborate with the Sr. QA Automation Engineer on test framework architecture, contributing engineering best practices and maturing the Playwright suite
• ▹Define and lead the load and performance testing strategy: scenario design, tooling selection, baseline definition
• ▹Build and own test harnesses for async, event-driven workflows (SQS, EventBridge, Lambda)
• ▹Establish patterns for testing correctness in async financial operations: retry logic, idempotency, dead letter queue handling
• ▹Own CI/CD quality gate configuration: pipeline integration, parallel execution strategy, failure triage
• ▹Drive API and contract testing strategy across services
• ▹Build quality observability into the engineering process: coverage trends, flakiness dashboards, test metrics
• ▹Collaborate with engineering leads during design and architecture, representing quality risk as a first-class input
• ▹Set the standard for AI-assisted test engineering, using and evangelizing tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude, or Cursor
• ▹Mentor and technically guide QA team members
• ▹Identify systemic quality gaps and drive engineering-level solutions

Requirements

• ▹8 years of professional experience in test engineering or software development; Bachelor's in a technical discipline or equivalent
• ▹Experience mentoring engineers or QA team members
• ▹Strong communicator, able to represent quality risk clearly to engineers, product managers, and leadership
• ▹Demonstrated daily habit with AI coding assistants (Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or similar)
• ▹Experience with test management tooling (Jira, XRay, Zephyr, or similar)
• ▹Ability to reason about distributed system architecture and translate that into test strategy
• ▹Deep API testing expertise: RESTful services, contract validation, schema testing
• ▹Experience owning CI/CD pipeline quality integration
• ▹Solid understanding of AWS messaging and eventing primitives: SQS, EventBridge, Lambda
• ▹Strong experience testing async, event-driven systems
• ▹Proven experience designing and owning load and performance testing programs (k6, JMeter, Artillery, or equivalent)
• ▹Deep hands-on experience with Playwright: framework authorship, architecture decisions
• ▹Strong programming fundamentals in Node.js, able to build test frameworks and tooling from scratch

Nice to have

• ▹Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code concepts (Terraform)
