A security-focused software engineering role at Qualcomm centered on vulnerability research and mitigation across software stacks built for government partners. The role also covers designing embedded software solutions and writing technical documentation on discovered vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform end-to-end software vulnerability research across software stacks to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Design and implement software tools that support vulnerability research.
  • Design and implement embedded software solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Assist with code reviews, regression testing, and triaging issues to ensure code quality.
  • Write technical documentation describing software vulnerabilities and their mitigations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field plus 2+ years of software engineering experience, OR a Master's degree plus 1+ year, OR a PhD in a related field.
  • 2+ years of academic or work experience with a programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
  • Full-time position with a 5-day on-site requirement.

Nice to have

  • Active TOP SECRET security clearance.
  • 3+ years of experience with C, C++, Java, or Python.
  • 3+ years of embedded software engineering or related experience.
  • Strong understanding of calling conventions, register usage, and memory management on x86 and ARM architectures.
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux operating system fundamentals.
  • Experience with standard Linux tools such as gdb, strace, ltrace, objdump, and readelf.
  • Experience with Trace32/JTAG tools.
  • Experience with Git or other source code management systems.
  • Experience with Android platform tools, including the Android Debug Bridge (ADB).
  • Proficient use of IDA Pro or Ghidra.
  • Experience with software-based reverse engineering.
  • Experience identifying and remediating security vulnerabilities.
  • Experience using large language models (LLMs) to augment reverse engineering and vulnerability discovery workflows.

Soft skills

Ability to collaborate with established, cross-functional engineering teams.Strong written communication for technical documentation.
